Hillman Real Estate Group
Debbie Slaughter was born in Puerto Rico and raised in an on-the-go military family (even attending high school in Germany!) until her dad was stationed at Fayetteville’s Fort Bragg and retired in 2005. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and spent three years working in real estate as an auditor before joining the Hillman Real Estate Group team as the firm’s Operations Manager.
Today, Debbie is a mom, the wife of a military Sergeant, and brings some incredible talents to the HREG team including being bilingual in English and Spanish and the toughness of a police officer. She’s friendly (yet firm when needs to be), diligent, and task focused. A perfect fit for our hard-working office!
Outside of her office hours, Debbie is currently taking courses in Raleigh at Meredith College as pre-requisites for continuing into the Masters in Trust and Wealth Management program at Campbell University. In her prior life, Debbie even served the Burlington, NC community as a police officer for two years. She credits her mom’s “Rice and Pigs Feet” recipe as her favorite food (does it get any more southern than that?) and spends her weekends enjoying cooking, cleaning, and chasing after her 20-month-old.
Renee adds to the long list of accolades: “and her hair is fabulous!”
Debbie and her husband purchased a home in Angier, NC, in December of 2016 and she says what sold her on the home was “the fire pit the former owners DIY’d, the backyard, and the two separate bonus rooms.” Her husband was sold on the pull-up bars the previous homeowners had installed, too!
Debbie is no stranger to the value of investing in real estate – she bought her first house with her sister at the tender age of 25. It was a foreclosed townhouse in pristine condition. She says she loves the business side of real estate: “I’m not one to be in the lime light listing or buying homes. I’d like to learn more about market analysis and wealth/risk management which is what I’m going to school for. I really believe that working with Renee will give me a great foundation because she has so much knowledge and experience.”
